In prisonS or shelterS

I've had the humbling, gratifying, mind-blowing experience of being involved with the Paws for Life program out of Lancaster State Prison.

The program takes dogs from local shelters and pairs them with inmates from California’s maximum-security prisons. The inmates are responsible for providing daily training, getting the dogs ready for adoption, or becoming certified service animals for military veterans suffering from PTSD. It's a program that recognizes the goodness in all dogs and their human counterparts.

So far, not one inmate who's gone through the program and has since been paroled has returned. It's a win-win. Creating and designing Paws For Life’s identity system has been one of my most fulfilling creative projects.

at art museums aka stalking basquiat

Art is the oxygen of my heart. Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. As a kid, colored pens were my friends, my partners-in-crime, and my calling. Together we laughed, we made things pretty, we created. And with every pen that lost its color from use, the artist's soul in me grew. I would not just throw them away, NO! I gave them a proper farewell. Wrapped them in white paper and buried them among the cows. Well, this was the beginning of my passion for creating and my appreciation for the tools that help me make the world a more colorful experience.

Basquiat's art — so pure and raw and full of unfiltered emotion and yes, even joy — reminds me of my childhood.

Backstage at the GRAMMYs or music venues

No, no I’m not a musician (I would never do that to you people!) BUT definitely a lover of music. Hanging backstage at the GRAMMYs was one of the biggest highlights of my life — the effin’ GRAMMYs people!!!! Still have to wrap my head around that experience!

And while I love to travel the world to catch yet another Alicia Keys show or to pick up another rose from Jared Leto, I also enjoy local bands and secret pop-up shows.

Music is my favorite hiding place.
